How do I export footage from a QS DVR?
Exporting footage is easy. Most of our DVRs are equipped with CD or DVD drives, and also front mounted USB ports for the connection of external disk drives.
Simply perform a search on the DVR for the footage you require, then click the export button and follow the on-screen instructions.

Can QS do this for me?
Exporting footage is easy to do, and our engineers are on hand Monday-Friday 9am-5pm to provide telephone assistance with the process.
Should you require us to export footage, or you have removed a hard disk from a DVR we levy a charge for time and materials. Charges are on a sliding scale depending on the volume of footage required:
| GB | <20 | <40 | <80 | <250 | <400 | <500 |
| Charge | £97.50 | £104.25 | £116.25 | £146.25 | £236.99 | £270.38 |
These charges include the provision of a USB hard drive.
At the time of the request, Quick Solutions will make an estimate of the size of the export based on the times and dates required. The charge will be based on this estimate.
How do I play back exported footage?
When exporting footage to CD or DVD the MJPEG playback software is also exported. When you insert the CD into any Windows PC, simply follow the installation instructions to play back the video files.
What if I cannot install the playback software?
Occasionally you may not be able to install software on another PC in your organisation. When performing the footage export you have the option of exporting either in MJPEG or AVI formats. AVI format takes longer and will create a larger file size, but the video will play back using most standard playback software such as Windows Media Player.
Is exported footage admissable in court?
QS DVRs use a proprietary Motion JPEG (MJPEG) algorithm to compress raw analogue camera video inputs and writes these compressed images to physical hard drives.
Integrity of footage is maintained when exporting to removable media in the correct way, and you can run an authentication process to verify that video frames have not been deleted or tampered with.

My DVR has broken down and I need footage stored on it.
When a DVR breaks down there may be footage stored on it you need. Our engineers are often able to recover data during the repair process, and a certain amount of footage recovery is included in our standard out of warranty repair charge.
Whilst repairing your DVR we will recover up to 3.5GB (approximately 5 CDs) for you where possible. A copy will be sent to you and can be played back on any PC.
At the time we arrange your repair we will ask you for the times and dates for which you wish to recover footage. If we estimate the size of the recovery to be greater than 3.5GB we will levy an additional charge (see above table).
